Cartoonist Subhani of DC selected for the national award for best newspaper art

HYDERABAD: Renowned cartoonist Subhani of Deccan Chronicle was on Friday selected for the national award for best newspaper art by the Press Council of India.

The award was announced for Subhani’s cartoon appearing in Deccan Chronicle on February 5, 2022. It was selected for the National Awards for Excellence in Journalism 2023 under the category ‘Best Newspaper Art: Covering Cartoon, Caricature and Illustrations.’

The award includes a memento, a plaque, a citation and a cash prize of Rs 50,000. The award will be conferred on Subhani by Ashok Tandon, eminent journalist and Prasar Bharati member, on August 5 at Delhi in the presence of Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, chairperson, PCI and members.
